Below are sounds, stories and images of winter, gathered in late 2014 in Bethel, Kotzebue, and Anchorage, Alaska.  This multimedia collection includes the voices of Yup'ik and Iñupiaq Elders, images of ice fishing on the Kuskokwim River, recipes for half-dried salmon,  and stories about "The Hairy Man," goose calls, and a time when "the world was thin"—when the boundaries between the ordinary and extraordinary were permeable—and how it may be getting thin again.
